September at Ombak KLCC is the first month the mall has a real calendar, not just an opening party. Nintendo and Malaysia's first Pokémon Center pop-up start Friday 12 September. PokéXciting! fills KLCC Park the same weekend. Matcha Walk takes the concourse 16 to 20 September. Offset by KLIF stays on the ground floor through 1 October. Galeri PETRONAS is open now, but not on mall hours.
Friday 12 and Saturday 13 September: park first, then Level 3
The Pokémon Company put Kuala Lumpur first on its Asia PokéXciting! tour. The park programme is 12 and 13 September in KLCC Park, next to Ombak, not inside it. Admission is free. The headline is Malaysia's first Pokémon drone show, plus a live Pikachu in a turquoise KL costume and a Pokémon GO tie-in. That is the crowd you will share the precinct with.
The same Friday, Ombak's Nintendo pop-up at lots L3-11 and L3-16 and the Pokémon Center pop-up next to it start a run through 31 December 2026. Nintendo's Malaysia page confirms the dates and a Malaysia-only Mario, Luigi and Toad T-shirt with two Warp Pipes standing in for the Petronas Twin Towers. The Pokémon Center side is official merch, trading cards, plush, and 30th-anniversary stock, plus a Nintendo gaming booth. TheSmartLocal adds that mall-wide Pokémon decorations are scheduled from 1 October to 31 December, so opening weekend is the shop, not the themed corridors.
If you only have one afternoon, do the park in daylight, then walk the underground link from Persiaran KLCC MRT into Ombak and go straight to Level 3. The units were fitted out and blocked off on opening day 21 August. They were not selling then. They are supposed to sell from 12 September. Queues for first-week exclusives are the obvious risk. Nintendo has not posted a numbered entry system. Arrive early or treat 13 September as the overflow day.
16 to 20 September: Matcha Walk on the concourse
Matcha Walk is the mall's own listing for KL's first matcha festival: Wednesday to Sunday, 16 to 20 September, 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Concourse Level. The organiser @matchawalk.my posted drinks, desserts, lifestyle stalls and workshops. Vendor names were still being confirmed in August. Treat the hours as the reliable fact and the line-up as something you check on the day.
The concourse is the same floor that held Pasar Seloka over Merdeka weekend. Offset by KLIF is still on Ground Floor lots G-08, G-09 and G-10 through 1 October, so you can do illustration prints and matcha without changing buildings. Offset is a shop, not a timed show. Matcha Walk is five days and then gone.
All month: Galeri PETRONAS, and do not copy the mall clock
The First Glimpse preview is on the ground floor of Galeri PETRONAS at lots G-19, 3-19 and 4-13. Official hours are Tuesday to Friday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, closed Mondays, last entry 30 minutes before close. Oriental Daily's 1 September visitor piece listed 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. That matches the mall, not the gallery. Trust galeripetronas.com. Walk-in, no booking, free for the preview.
What is actually on the floor is a mini exhibition titled Memory and the Malaysian Identity, drawn from the PETRONAS Art Collection and The AFK Collection, plus The Blueprint in Motion: six spatial panels you can scan for AR views of the future galleries. Full Galeri PETRONAS is still aimed at late 2027. If you come for Pokémon at 8pm on a Tuesday, the gallery will already be locked.
Who should come which weekend
Families and collectors: 12 to 13 September, park plus Level 3. Drinkers of green tea: 16 to 20 September, concourse. Anyone who wants a quieter mall: weekdays after 13 September, Offset and Galeri, skip Monday for the gallery. The mall itself is 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily. Occupancy at the official opening was about 30 percent, according to Malay Mail on 29 August, so empty corridors are still part of the walk.
